Why does gum disease occur?
Although the main cause of gum disease is bacterial plaque, it can be linked to many factors. Incomplete or improper oral care, unbalanced nutrition, hormonal conditions, smoking, bruxism can cause gum disease. It can be said that some of the drugs used cause gum disease.
Diabetes can be counted as hormonal diseases where gum disease is common. Diabetes patients should perform oral care in detail and be under the control of dentists.
Changing hormone balance during periods such as pregnancy, menstruation and menopause also increases the chance of gum disease. This may be due to the gums becoming more sensitive to the bacterial plaque.
Adequate oral care greatly prevents the occurrence of gum disease. We strongly recommend that you get support from your dentist for adequate oral care. Periodic checks will reduce the chance of gum disease.
